# Lottie AI

Lottie AI is a text to Lottie generator. It turns a written description into a Lottie animation, which is the vector format apps and websites use for motion. You describe what you want, it generates a working animation and it hands back a set of controls built for that animation so you can adjust the color, size, timing and text without generating again.

## Animation creation for builders

### No motion-design skill needed

Describe what you want in plain language, then keep refining in the same way.

- **Turbo Mode:** Generate a single-pass animation in about a minute.
- **Quality Mode:** Multi-agent generation that plans and critiques.

### Light & scalable vector

A vector stays sharp at any size, weighs kilobytes and works across web and apps.

- **Smart layering:** Every layer is named and grouped based on what it does.
- **Editable to the curve:** Shapes, colors and timing are real values you can change, not baked in.

### Built-in controls

Every animation comes with controls. Move a slider and it updates, no regenerating.

- **Colors and Looks:** Swap colors or try new variations without writing another prompt.
- **Energy dial:** Make the motion calmer or wilder. Controls never use a credit.

### Refine, not restart

Build on your last generation or jump back to any earlier version.

- **Keep chatting:** Ask for a change in a follow-up. If nothing changes, no credit is used.
- **Open in Lottie Creator:** Send it to Lottie Creator to fine-tune individual layers and properties.

### Own the code

Open the vector code behind any animation. Read it, review it in a pull request or edit it by hand.

- **Ready-to-paste code:** Copy native code for SwiftUI or Jetpack Compose.
- **Download the file:** Export your Lottie animation and use it in your product instantly.

## From prompt to animation

- **Describe:** Write a prompt. Add duration and canvas size if you know them.
- **Refine:** Adjust color, size, timing and text with the controls, or point at the canvas and describe the change.
- **Export:** Download as dotLottie, Lottie JSON, GIF or MP4, or save it to your LottieFiles workspace.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I edit the animation after it's generated?

Yes. Every generation comes with a controls panel built specifically for that animation, so you can adjust things like color, size and timing directly. Moving a slider updates the animation instantly without calling the model or using another generation. You can also keep prompting for changes, or select a layer on the canvas and describe exactly what you want to change. For more detailed editing, save the animation to Lottie Creator, where you can fine-tune individual elements and properties.

### How is this different from an AI video generator?

A video model outputs pixels at one resolution and entirely completed. If you change the brand color or want to make any other changes, you would have to generate the whole video again. Lottie AI is a text to Lottie tool used for motion and outputs a vector animation: named shapes, color values, timing curves. It stays sharp at any size, has a transparent background by default, is kilobytes rather than megabytes, and changes when you change it. Think of it this way: if you want photoreal footage or audio, use a video model, and if you want animations for your app or web, use Lottie AI.

### How does this relate to Lottie Creator and Motion Copilot?

LottieFiles builds all three. Lottie Creator MCP and Motion Copilot assist a motion designer working inside the browser-based Lottie Creator. Lottie AI is a standalone text to Lottie generator for someone who isn't a designer at all, specifically towards product builders, with access to viewing codes upfront.

### Can I animate my own artwork?

Yes. Import an SVG, image or Lottie JSON file to animate artwork you already have, such as brand assets or icons, instead of generating from scratch.

### Can I match my brand colors?

Yes. Set a custom color palette before generating, and the animation will stay within it.

### What formats can I export?

dotLottie and Lottie JSON for apps and websites, plus GIF, MP4, WebM, MOV and more. You can also export SwiftUI or Jetpack Compose code, or package the animation for a coding agent.

### Who owns the content I create?

You do. Everything you generate belongs to you. Lottie AI never trains on your data, and all content comes with a full commercial AI license.

### I already have a LottieFiles paid plan. What happens to it?

Nothing changes. Lottie AI has its own plans and credits, separate from your LottieFiles plan, and you don't need a paid LottieFiles plan to use it.
